Tune in for a special broadcast of NRDC Trustee and Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio’s new documentary, Before the Flood, on the National Geographic Channel on October 30 at 9 p.m. EDT. Directed by Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens, the film takes us on a tour of the warming world through DiCaprio’s journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, traveling across five continents — from a smoldering Sumatran rainforest to the Alberta tar sands — to witness climate change firsthand.
This film includes dramatic footage of the impacts of climate change, and the voices of a range of people on the front lines of the fight to solve this problem — including Alvin Lin from NRDC’s Beijing office, who is at the cutting edge of efforts to work with China on reducing its carbon emissions. While Before the Flood presents many difficult issues those around the world face, DiCaprio focuses on practical solutions. He urges us all to not only take individual action, but to push elected officials to support alternative energy sources to build a better future for our planet — as NRDC members and activists like you have been doing all along!
We hope you will continue to make your voices heard — in Washington and at statehouses across the country — in defense of our environment, our communities and our health. And don’t miss the global broadcast of Before the Flood on National Geographic on October 30 at 9 p.m. EDT!
